![]() ![]() When we use the name Crossover, it serves to remind us, this new generation of “Crossover” people, that we too are called and challenged to be people who leave behind the people we have been to become the people the Lord wants us to be – for His Glory. It took faith and courage to leave behind their life in the wilderness in order to enter the blessed unknown of all that God had for them on the other side of the river. The name “Crossover” comes from Joshua 3:17 that tells about how the Israelites “crossed over” from their life in the wilderness through the Jordan River and into their long awaited land of promise. Quickly outgrowing those spaces led to a few more years meeting in local schools, until the vibrant body of Crossover broke ground and built the campus where you’ll find us today, parallel to Highway 2 on the frontage road ![]() Then, the seeds of this purpose sprouted into a small body that moved to the Five-Mile Grange Hall and before being gifted a small church building on the corner of Highway 395 and Hastings Road in the Wandermere area of North Spokane. There has been thousands of new commitments to follow Christ and over 1,300 baptisms since moving in the new facility.Crossover Church was sown into the hearts of 30 people who met for the first time in a living room in 1996. With the new location and amount of space Crossover has now doubled the size of it’s congregation and has been able to serve tens of thousands of people in the community with groceries, backpacks, clothes, shoes, toys, mentoring and the love of Christ. In November of 2010 they moved into their new completely remodeled 43,000 square foot facility on Fowler Ave. The church actually grew during this 9 month transition period. In January of 2010 the North Orleans Campus was sold to another church and Crossover began temporarily meeting in the ballrooms at a local hotel on Busch Blvd. The once run down old church campus on North Orleans was completely transformed and remodeled into a unique thriving church that grew to reach over 500 people weekly at the 3 Sunday services. Millions have visited Crossover’s website and thousands have attended our services, concerts and conferences as they look to Crossover as a model. The church has become internationally known through all the favorable media articles as well as the numerous CD’s, books, magazines and resources produced by Pastor Tommy (Urban D.) and other innovators at the church. We are multi-ethnic, multi-generational and economically diverse. ![]() God has called Crossover to be a pioneer church to reach the urban community in new ways. Within a few years the church had to add a second Sunday service, then a third and then an overflow seating area. ![]() Many soon embraced the vision and began getting discipled and involved in serving others. The church quickly grew as several new people visited and built relationships with Christ. Crossover was re-launched and the church carefully and prayerfully began to make changes to better reach the community. A new vision and structure was birthed for the church. In January of 2002, Tommy Kyllonen became the lead pastor of Crossover. During this time the Sunday services at Crossover maintained about 40 regular attenders as the lead pastor changed 3 different times during this period. Over the next six years, they developed a first of it’s kind Hip-Hop styled youth ministry which grew to reach hundreds weekly. The church brought in Tommy and Lucy Kyllonen to start a youth ministry from scratch in 1996. They moved into an old church that was run down on North Orleans Ave. Pastor Joe McCuthen founded Crossover Church with a few other people in the early 1990’s. They saw the needs of people in our city weren’t being met and they wanted to do something about it. They were burned out with “organized religion” – tired of the politics, the traditions and the masks people hid behind at many churches. Crossover started with a small community of people that wanted something different. ![]()
